In 2025, we completed a full renovation of the Swarovski retail store in Lynnhaven Mall. The refreshed look needed to closely match the brand’s look and feel, including colors and shapes, while also meeting the requirements of displaying products and storing additional stock. We knew that the craftsmanship of the construction was a reflection of the craftsmanship associated with the retailer. To accomplish this, the Carlton team created custom displays with unique finishes that can’t be found anywhere else in the shopping center.

Types of Custom Carpentry
During a commercial remodel, custom carpentry provides some of the best opportunities to add details unique to your company or brand. Unlike paint colors and flooring, you aren’t choosing from a designer’s sample library, and there is almost no limit to creativity.
Custom carpentry isn’t limited to cabinets, either. If you’ve been viewing potential locations for your business, keep the framing in mind. The space you’re looking at now has unlimited possibilities for offices, storage, or conference rooms, and the right builder will create the space you need from the space you have, ensuring everything meets building codes and standards. Decorative trims and molding add finer finishing details that can enhance the interior design scheme. Custom shelving can help you fit your space around the product, not the other way around.
Control Over Materials
Custom carpentry also allows you the benefit of having more choice over materials. Stock cabinetry or trim may have the look you want but not the durability you need, or it may not meet the sustainability goals for your business.
When meeting with builders for your commercial build or remodeling project, ask about their sourcing practices when it comes to carpentry, and if they offer custom carpentry during each phase of the build.
